VALENTIA RODEO & HARVEST DAYS
AUGUST 23 & 24
PRESS RELEASE
The 7th stop on the Dodge Rodeo Tour 2008 finds Dodge Rodeo jumping back into the little Town of Valentia Ontario in what could again prove to be this year's Juggernaut Event. Last year Valentia had an absolutely SOLD OUT 2 Days of Rodeo. With the 200th Anniversary of Valentia over 7,000 people came out to see the Dodge Rodeo Tour on the weekend. The Saturday show was standing room only 1 hour before the Rodeo started. The Town Crier started the Rodeo off in great style. The Doner family were honored - Doug Doner on his 75th birthday. Doug is a former All Round Cowboy Champion. His 5 sons (all champions) were on hand to celebrate as Valentia is their home community. Golden Horseshoe Beer was on hand Friday night as the Alberta Premium - Golden Horseshoe Bar opened. With the record crowds Golden Horseshoe had to organize bringing in more Beer to handle the demand. It was a shocking turn out!
Valentia is nestled in Ontario Kawartha Lakes Region just minutes South West of Lindsay. This year the two day event will be put on by the Lion's Club and Jim and Michelle Ward. This will be Lion's club major fundraiser for the year. The Wards will use funding to assist the registered charity Valentia Equine Retraining Center an organization that rescues abused or unwanted horses. This will provide dollars for campers that need to be subsidized and programs to provide a safe and rewarding experience to children, with or without special needs, and provide opportunities for them to be introduced to the Equine world in a positive environment.
On August 23rd and 24th the Dodge Rodeo Tour will present two performances with Lions club again hosting the rodeo dance. We are all anxious to see if this little community can repeat last year's stunning success or take things to the next level
Information on the added celebration of old time Harvest Days can be found on the website valentiaequestrian.com.
